In this instance I wanted to explore a minimal rendition with pastel on paper of a traditional subject. I was hoping for an uncluttered statement about timeless objects.

Glancing across the studio I saw mother’s teacup sitting empty on a shelf. Too fragile for a beverage, but perfectly suitable for an arrangement of tiny delicate flowers.

It is perhaps an attempt to allow just the present object of beauty before me to have all my attention without the clutter of past, present, or future concerns.
